I could be wrong . And this is just my opinion . This drum looks to be in too good of condition to be 70 years old . If it is an original then it could be worth as high as $1,800.00 dollars . If it is a reproduction then it is well worth the 35 euros .
I agree. I'd give it a body-swerve too. Looks like it was made yesterday on those photos. If it is an original it looks like someone has ruined it by giving it a refurb.
This is going to be difficult Ludwig. You may be lucky and find a HJ unit stamp somewhere on the wood but it's going to be difficult to say for sure that this is pre-1945 even if it has animal hide drumskins (which it should have). These drums were used (and made) into the 1960s and were also used by the FDJ in the old DDR too so care is always advised as sellers will always try to say that they are HJ when they could well have been made and used many years after the end of WW2. Having said all that the drum looks freshly painted on those photos so I personally would be worried by that alone. Any stamps that were on the wood are now covered by the new paint too so it's not looking good for this one.
